The NCMPS Coaches Workshop II is an online community for previous participants of NCMPS Coaches Workshop. The Participants meet sixteen time throughout the school year in small-group video-conference call led by an NCMPS Coach to share and collaborate, refine skills and tools, and learn new techniques. Prerequisite: The NCMPS Coaches Workshop II is open to participants who have completed the NCMPS Coaches Workshop in a previous year.  Scheduling: After you've registered and paid for this Workshop, an NCMPS Coach will work with you to schedule a regular meeting day and time that will work with your schedule. If no mutually agreeable time can be found, registration will be refunded. The NCMPS Coaching Team María Carvajal has 20 years of experience in teaching, educational research, consulting, mentorship, and program management in El Salvador, Mexico, Spain, and the U.S. She is a certified AMI elementary guide with primary teaching experience, and holds a B.A. and M.A. in Humanities from the University of Navarra and a M.Ed. in Montessori Elementary Education from Loyola University Maryland. María’s professional interests include trauma-informed care, English learner education, and early intervention. For research, she is currently focused on at-risk student populations, receptive and expressive language delays, and associations between social-emotional competence and literacy skills in children.     Laure Fleming studied Anthropology at the University of Maryland College Park where she earned her BA. She next earned her M.Ed in Montessori education from Loyola University in Baltimore and later studied School Administration and Supervision at Johns Hopkins University. Laure is Montessori credentialed for ages 3-6 (AMI) and 6-12 (AMS) and is licensed as a teacher and principal by the Maryland State Department of Education. Laure served for 14 years in public Montessori (with over 20 years total working in schools) holding the positions of classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, assistant principal, and head of school.      Seth D. Webb has worked in public charter Montessori schools in Arizona, Colorado, and New Zealand as an elementary teacher, instructional leader, dean of students, and principal. Throughout his career, Seth has been active in the Montessori movement as a conference presenter, and lecturer and field consultant for Montessori training centers. He is Montessori credentialed (AMS 6-12, AMI 12-18), is a state licensed teacher and principal, and holds a MAEd from the Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs at St. Catherine University. Montessori education calls for a different approach to assessment. This course is an introduction to the Montessori Assessment Playbook, a strategy manual and collection of tools for an assessment model grounded in Montessori and supporting human flourishing.  The Playbook offers a holistic approach to assessing the effectiveness of Montessori programs according to the wide-scope goals of developmental education. It includes tools for: observing in and understanding Montessori classrooms assessing inputs such as classrooms, assistants, teachers, leaders, and whole-school culture measuring outcomes such as normalization, academic and social skills, and alumni satisfaction This orientation introduces the Playbook approach and provides an overview of the tools. On completion of this course, participants can join Assessment Playbook Workshops focusing on Child-Level Assessment and Adult Assessment and Appraisal, online facilitated sessions which give depth and personalization to specific tools. This course is for educators ready to take the next steps in their anti-bias, anti-racist teaching journeys. It is intended for Montessori teachers who have taken "The Culturally Responsive Montessori Environment" or a similar introduction to anti-bias, anti-racist practice. Participants will form a working group designed to collectively enhance lessons, disrupt classroom materials, and explore liberatory models which empower children and help teachers become advocates and risk-taking allies.
